Video-Assisted Midface Lift Recovery: What to Expect
Video-assisted surgery can reposition selected brow, temporal and midface tissues through scalp incisions. Smaller incisions do not mean an effortless or risk-free recovery. Swelling, altered sensation, tightness and temporary changes in expression vary according to the areas treated and combined procedures.
What the procedure may address
The approach may refine brow position, release glabellar or temporal structures and improve selected midface descent and the lid–cheek relationship. It does not replace lower-face or neck surgery when jowls, jawline or cervical anatomy are the principal concerns.
A realistic early timeline

Combined Hybrid Blepharoplasty, fat grafting or lower-face surgery can lengthen recovery.
Scalp incisions and fixation
Incisions are placed in hair-bearing areas, but they still create scars. Temporary numbness, itching, tenderness or localized hair changes can occur. Fixation method is individualized and may involve temporal fascial support, bone tunnels or other devices.
Facial movement and nerve-related symptoms
Temporary weakness may result from swelling, traction, local anesthetic or neuropraxia and does not automatically mean nerve transection. Persistent or progressive asymmetry requires examination. Possible risks include sensory change, temporary or persistent motor weakness, contour asymmetry and changes in brow position.
Previous injectables
Fillers, biostimulators, threads and energy-based treatments can alter dissection planes and inflammatory response. Dermatologic ultrasound may be requested before surgery. Permanent materials require particular caution.
Warning signs
- Sudden or rapidly increasing swelling
- Severe pain not controlled as expected
- Visual change or significant eye symptoms
- Fever, drainage or spreading redness
- New or worsening facial weakness
- Shortness of breath or calf pain
Planning recovery from abroad
International patients generally arrive in Criciúma one or two days before surgery and remain in Brazil for at least 15 days. Surgery is performed in a hospital setting, and the concierge team assists with local scheduling and postoperative logistics. Clearance to fly is individualized.
