Hybrid Blepharoplasty is not simply eyelid surgery combined with a laser or device. It is an individualized periorbital plan that considers eyelid skin, orbicularis muscle, fat compartments, brow position, eyelid support, volume and skin quality while prioritizing function and facial identity.

What problems need to be separated?

Preserving eyelid function

In Dr. June Favarin’s approach, upper-eyelid skin removal is conservative and the orbicularis muscle is preserved whenever possible. Lower-eyelid treatment is commonly performed through transconjunctival access, avoiding a routine external lower-lid skin incision. Cantopexy may be added when eyelid support requires it.

A low brow, true eyelid ptosis or weak lower-lid support should not be mistaken for simple excess skin. Removing more skin cannot compensate safely for the wrong diagnosis.

Microfat, nanofat and skin treatment

Microfat may restore selected structural hollows in the tear trough and lid–cheek junction. Nanofat is a more finely processed preparation for selected superficial indications; it does not create reliable lift or structural volume. CO₂ laser or Morpheus may address skin quality in suitable patients, but no adjunct is mandatory and outcomes are variable.

Previous injectables and ultrasound

Under-eye filler can persist, migrate or contribute to malar edema. Biostimulators, threads and permanent materials may also alter tissue planes. Dermatologic ultrasound helps identify material when the history or examination is unclear. Hyaluronidase acts only on hyaluronic acid and may not fully resolve chronic edema.

Risks and recovery

Risks include bleeding, infection, dry eye, chemosis, asymmetry, contour irregularity, prolonged edema, difficulty closing the eyes, eyelid malposition, visual symptoms and revision surgery. Urgent pain, vision change or rapidly increasing swelling requires immediate assessment.

International patients should remain in Brazil for early examinations. Belvivere combines a hospital structure with concierge support. See Hybrid Blepharoplasty indications and what eyelid surgery can treat in dark circles.
