Travelling for plastic surgery is a medical decision before it is a travel decision. Brazil may offer access to experienced surgeons and structured care, but geography, cost or a technique name cannot guarantee a better result. International patients need a clear clinical plan, an appropriate hospital, enough time for recovery and continuity of care after returning home.
What should be verified before booking?

Diagnosis should come before destination or technique
Facial rejuvenation may involve the brow, eyelids, midface, lower face, neck, volume or skin. Hybrid Blepharoplasty, video-assisted brow and midface surgery, Deep Plane facelift, Neck Lift, Deep Neck and facial fat grafting have different indications. None is automatically required or universally superior.
The proposed operation should follow the patient’s anatomy, health, previous procedures and priorities. The safest recommendation may be to limit the operation, divide treatment into stages, request further evaluation or postpone surgery.
Previous injectables can change the plan
Patients should disclose hyaluronic-acid fillers, biostimulators, threads, PMMA, silicone, energy-based treatments and prior operations—even when performed years earlier. Dermatologic ultrasound may be requested to identify residual material, edema, fibrosis or altered tissue planes. Hyaluronidase acts on hyaluronic acid only and does not guarantee complete correction.
How Belvivere organizes international care
The process begins with a remote consultation, medical history and standardized photographs. This supports preliminary planning but does not replace examination. The definitive operation is confirmed after an in-person assessment in Criciúma.
Major facial procedures are performed at Hospital São José, with anesthesia and postoperative monitoring appropriate to the case. Belvivere generally plans at least 15 days in Brazil after major facial surgery, although the required stay may be longer. Return travel depends on examination and medical clearance, not on a fixed holiday itinerary.

Recovery is not tourism
The early postoperative period should prioritize rest, scheduled reviews and proximity to the surgical team. Sun exposure, swimming, alcohol, strenuous activity and long excursions may be restricted. Leisure plans should remain flexible and occur only after clearance.
Risks and realistic expectations
Complications can occur despite careful planning. Depending on the operation, risks may include bleeding, infection, wound problems, unfavorable scars, nerve injury, eyelid or ocular complications, thrombosis, anesthetic events and revision surgery. Long-distance travel adds logistical and thromboembolic considerations.
Before committing, review the international preoperative checklist and confirm that the plan remains acceptable even if recovery is slower than expected. Good medical travel is defined by preparation, informed consent and continuity—not by combining surgery with sightseeing.
