Before booking plastic surgery in Brazil, verify the medical pathway—not only the surgeon’s social media, price or travel package. A safe decision depends on diagnosis, credentials, hospital resources, anesthesia, follow-up and a realistic plan for complications and return travel.
Ten questions to answer before paying for travel
- Is the surgeon appropriately qualified and experienced in the proposed operation?
- Where will surgery be performed?
- Who provides anesthesia and pre-anesthetic assessment?
- Is the remote recommendation explicitly preliminary?
- What could cause the plan to be reduced, staged, postponed or contraindicated?
- Which hospital, professional and follow-up costs are included?
- Who examines the patient after discharge?
- How are urgent symptoms managed outside office hours?
- How long must the patient remain near the surgical team?
- What happens if recovery delays the return flight?
Remote consultation is not final clearance
Photographs and video can clarify concerns and medical history, but they cannot replace palpation, dynamic examination, eye-surface assessment or evaluation of tissue quality. The definitive procedure is confirmed after examination in Brazil. A responsible in-person decision may be smaller, different, staged or no surgery.
For facial surgery, the diagnosis is regional
Brow descent, eyelid skin, true ptosis, midface descent, jowls, neck anatomy, volume loss and skin quality are separate problems. Hybrid Blepharoplasty, video-assisted surgery, SMAS or Deep Plane facelift, Neck Lift, Deep Neck and facial fat grafting have different indications. No named technique is universally superior.
Previous Botox, fillers, biostimulators, threads, PMMA, silicone and energy treatments must be disclosed. When the product or tissue response is uncertain, dermatologic ultrasound may improve planning. Hyaluronidase acts on hyaluronic acid only and is not an automatic preoperative step.
Hospital, anesthesia and follow-up
Belvivere’s major facial procedures are performed at Hospital São José with the anesthesia and monitoring appropriate to the plan. Hospital care cannot eliminate risk. Patients should understand possible bleeding, infection, eye symptoms, nerve changes, wound problems, thrombosis, anesthesia-related events and revision.
Travel logistics must support recovery
| Requirement | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Accompanying adult | Assistance is needed during early recovery and after anesthesia |
| Nearby accommodation | Allows scheduled and urgent reassessment |
| Flexible return travel | Flight clearance depends on healing, not a guaranteed date |
| Local emergency plan | Urgent symptoms may require hospital evaluation |
| Post-return medical access | Remote follow-up cannot replace every physical examination |
For major facial surgery, Belvivere generally plans at least 15 days in Brazil, individualized to the procedure and progress. Recovery is not a tourism itinerary; sun exposure, beaches, long excursions and strenuous activity may be restricted.
Concierge support has defined limits
The concierge team can assist with accommodation, transportation and scheduling. It does not provide medical monitoring, replace an accompanying adult or diagnose complications. The clinical team remains responsible for medical decisions.
A useful final test
Remove the destination, hotel and price from the proposal. If the medical plan still makes sense—with clear alternatives, risks, scars, recovery and continuity of care—the decision is more likely to be based on healthcare rather than tourism marketing.
