Santa Catarina can serve as a recovery base for plastic surgery when the surgeon, hospital, follow-up access and travel plan fit the patient’s needs. The location itself does not guarantee better results, lower risk or an uncomplicated recovery.

Why the recovery base matters

International surgery creates distance between the patient and home support. The chosen city should allow access to the surgeon, the operating hospital, scheduled postoperative care and emergency assessment. Scenic attractions and hotel amenities are secondary during early recovery.

Recovery-base factorClinical relevance
Proximity to the surgical teamAllows wounds, swelling, eye symptoms and pain to be examined promptly
Hospital accessSupports urgent assessment if bleeding, breathing or neurological symptoms develop
Appropriate accommodationReduces unnecessary transfers and supports rest
Responsible accompanying adultProvides practical observation and assistance after discharge
Flexible travelAllows return flights to change if healing is delayed

How care is organized in Criciúma

Belvivere House is located in Criciúma, southern Santa Catarina. Consultation, planning and postoperative reviews occur through the clinic; surgery is performed at Hospital São José. Patients should understand this division before travel: Belvivere coordinates the longitudinal pathway, while the hospital supports the operation and immediate recovery.

Facial surgery is planned by anatomy

Dr. June Favarin evaluates the brow, eyelids, midface, lower face, neck, volume and skin as related but distinct regions. Deep Plane is not a universal answer; video-assisted surgery does not replace every eyelid or lower-face operation; and Deep Neck is reserved for selected anatomy.

Fillers, biostimulators, threads, PMMA, silicone, previous surgery and energy treatments may alter anatomy or inflammation. Product details should be disclosed, and dermatologic ultrasound may be requested when the history or examination is uncertain.

The first 15 days are for recovery

After major facial surgery, Belvivere generally plans at least 15 days in Brazil, adjusted to the procedure and clinical progress. The first week is usually kept close to the team in Criciúma. A later stay elsewhere may be considered only when recovery and medical guidance allow it.

Swelling, bruising, altered sensation, tightness, fatigue and temporary asymmetry can be expected. Increasing pain, rapidly enlarging one-sided swelling, breathing difficulty, visual changes, fever, heavy bleeding or new weakness require prompt medical assessment.

Tourism should not dictate the itinerary

Sun exposure, beaches, long excursions, alcohol, strenuous activity and long transfers may be restricted. Social recovery and medical fitness to fly are different milestones. A patient can appear presentable while still requiring local follow-up.

What concierge support can do

  • Assist with accommodation and transportation planning.
  • Coordinate appointments and bilingual practical communication.
  • Clarify logistics for the accompanying adult.
  • Support the transition to remote follow-up after clearance.

The concierge service does not make clinical decisions, replace nursing care or substitute for emergency services. Patients should know how to contact the medical team and where urgent assessment will occur.

Choosing Santa Catarina for the right reasons

The meaningful advantages are continuity, hospital access, proximity to the team and a realistic recovery environment. Compare total costs transparently, including a possible longer stay or unplanned care. The safest destination is the one that supports the medical plan—not the one with the strongest tourism claim.
